Bag of Beans

Hi!

I don't think there is anybody who doesn't notice Bag or Beans when travelling to Tagaytay because it's always the cause of traffic there. Even getting a parking space is so hard cause they're always fully packed! You definitely can't miss it. It's just pass the crossing going to Mendez.

So, last Sunday was my lola's bday so we headed out to buy her cakes. On our way back, we stopped by Bag of Beans in Tagaytay for an afternoon snack.

We ordered pies and pancakes. I had the sheperd's pie, Tin had the chicken and mushroom pie and faye had pancakes.

Sheperd's Pie (Single) - Php 115
This was very filling and the beef had this spice I can't quite distinguish but it tasted very homey overall.

Chicken and Mushroom Pie (Single) - Php 115
This pie was very creamy and seasoned just right.

Buttermilk Pancake - Php 175

And of course, what is a visit to Bag of Beans without coffee or hot chocolate?

Hot Chocolate - Php 110

White Mocha - Php 110

Caramel Macchiatto - Php 105
The caramel is on the bottom so don't forget to stir or else your last sips will be too sweet.

Bag of Beans also offers a Breakfast buffet for Php 320 and a Lunch buffet for 400+, but I am yet to try that out. I'm not sure if they still serve Coffee Alamid 'cause I didn't notice it in their menu but If they do, I might try it out on my next visit.

If you don't want the hassle of parking, they now have a branch near Tagaytay Rotonda, beside BPI, if I'm not mistaken. Well, that's about it. +J

Bizu Patisserie

Hey everyone!

Finally, I am back with another restaurant post. I promised myself that I will bring my camera with me whenever I eat out so I can post more reviews here.

Anyway, back to the review.

So, my siblings and I visited Bizu Patisserie at Greenbelt 2 last week, and tried some of their dishes. What we ordered...

For the main dishes, my sister had this crepe which was pretty filling. She just wasn't keen on the salmon because she taught it wasn't cooked enough but it tasted pretty good for me.

Smoked Salmon Crepe - Php 325

I had the Salmon with Risotto. I wasn't too fond of this because the rice was still a little hard for my liking, but the sauce and salmon was good.

Butter Poached Salmon with Pommery - Php 495

The Pasta was good, some ravioli had spinach filling and some with cheese.

Mixed Ravioli - (Personal) Php 265

The next one was my lil brother's order. It tasted ordinary to me...

I forgot what this dish was but I think it was something like Beef Stew
and it cost around 200+

And now on to dessert... My sister ordered 2 mini cakes, both are chocolate flavored but I didn't get the names but both tasted like chocolate mousse. These cakes were pretty small and costs
200+ per cake. A little bit pricey.

This one had a pistachio flavored creme center. See the green paste?

We took out a pack of 8 of their Macaron de Paris. Im my opinion, this was a little overpriced, 'cause there are macarons that is Php25/pc and taste equally as good. The only difference is that they have a larger range of flavors available. I liked the lemon flavor best...

Macaron de Paris (Pack of 8) - Php 355
Php 45 per piece

For the drinks, we got...

Cappuccino - Php 95

Iced Velvet (I forgot what flavor)

Blueberry Kefir - Php 145

I wasn't able to get a lot of pictures of the interior and facade because my camera battery died, but i did took a shot from my phone.

Bizu Interior (view from our seat)

So that's about it. I might visit Bizu again 'cause I still want to try some of their other dishes, but I might try other restaurants first for a little variety. Till then...

Ciao! +J

Spicy Wholemeal Pasta and Tuna Salad

hello everyone!

I haven't updated in a while but i have no restaurant posts to write yet 'cause i always forget to bring camera with me. so instead, i'll be posting a recipe for a dish i made just a while ago. This recipe is basic and easy to do. It's fresh but with a spicy kick to it.

Spicy Wholemeal Pasta and Tuna Salad

Ingredients:

250g (half a pack) San Remo Wholemeal Spirals
180g (1 can) Century Tuna - Hot and Spicy
1 medium Carrot
1 medium Cucumber
2 large Tomatoes
3 cloves Garlic
1 small Onion
around 5 tbsp Olive Oil
1 to 1/2 tsp dried Tarragon
1 tsp Lemon zest
Chili Powder, Salt and Pepper to taste

Mince the onion and garlic. Dice the Tomatoes and Cucumber, don't forget to scrape the seeds off these. Shred the carrot.
Cook the pasta until al dente. Try not to overcook. Set aside.
In a pan, saute the onion and garlic in the olive oil. Add drained tuna and tarragon, then the tomatoes, cucumber and carrot. Sprinkle salt, pepper, chili powder and lemon zest. Saute for 1 minute. Mix the pasta in and serve.

Easy, right? you can sprinkle chopped nuts and more chili powder if you like. Tips: don't cook the cucumber too long, you would want them to still be fresh and crisp. You can use any other small pasta, i just used the wholemeal one 'cause it has more fiber, so i guess it's healthier (wink).

I'm no chef, i just like to cook and eat. I hope you try the recipe and give me feedback about it.

Till my next post, +J

Icheon Korean Restaurant

I got interested in everything Korean when i got addicted to K-pop, so now I'm into Korean foods too. haha. carrying on...

Icheon Restaurant is a Korean Restaurant located at 256 Sumulong Hi-way in Antipolo City, Philippines. They open at around 11am, I think, and close around 10pm.

Every time I'd pass by this restaurant, it's always packed with diners, and I can tell why. They have really yummy food. This was the second time I went there. I went with two of my friends and my sister.

They serve numerous kinds of side dishes, and their food serving is huge! so spending P250+ on
one dish is really worth it.

Icheon Restaurant Facade
Taken around 9pm, nearing their closing time.

some of their complimentary side dishes

Two of my favorite side dishes:

Cabbage Kimchi

Sweet and Spicy Pusit
the first side dish that always disappear at the table.

And now, on to the main dishes. we ordered six dishes that night, which was a bit too many, coz as I've said, the servings were huge. One serving is good for 3-4 persons already. But we got to take home the left overs so, it really wasn't wasted.

Bi Bim Bap - Php250
(Rice with beef, veggies, egg and spicy sauce)

Jjam-ppong - Php250
(Spicy hot noodle soup with seafood and veggies)

Raw Beef meat

Sesame leaves and Lettuce
twas my first time tasting the sesame leaves. it tasted kinda odd.

Ju Mul Ruk - Php400
(Grilled seasoned meat with sauce)
grilled on our table.

O-Jing-ou Somyun - Php600
(Squid with noodles and spicy sauce)
we got a shock when this dish was served, it was really large!
the serving is good for 8 people. This tasted really good.

Kogi Mandoo - Php400
(Meat Disum)
yummy!

Kimbap - Php300
(Korean Sushi roll)
yummy too!

We didn't order any drinks and just had water instead. Their drinks selection was few, just soft drinks, juices, ginseng tea and the rest were Korean wines/liquor.
I also took pictures of their menu, and i might post it in my next entries if any of you guys would need it.

Till my next post, ciao! +J
